‘Okay, how much do we all know about Newgrange?’ Rafe asked the gathering of his team.

‘Neolithic mound, passage tombs and monoliths in Ireland,’ Maurie piped up immediately.

‘Exactly. As we all know, the anti-grav tech existed in prehistoric times. The Atlanteans’ descendants applied it in their constructions for thousands of years after Atlantis fell.’ Rafe glanced at Jarvidh guiltily, as if mentioning Atlantis’ fall might arouse sensitive feelings in the last survivor. But it would take more than mentioning his world’s fate to stir such feelings in Jarvidh. He’d been living with that reality for too long.

‘So the ancient monuments didn’t provide much of a clue to the whereabouts of the final cache of crystals. With the number of monoliths in the world that were obviously placed using that tech it was like a needle in a haystack trying to follow that lead.

‘So we linked the monoliths up to what we knew about secret societies across the centuries. That path has proved very productive. It gave us a very secret society in Britain that had its origins in the reign of William and Mary. It seems that during the Battle of the Boyne, an officer on King William’s side happened upon the mound at Newgrange. It wasn’t an unusual sight in Ireland, and certainly not around the Boyne River. There were several such sites nearby at Knowth and Dowth. But that officer, Charles Campbell, went searching around the mound and discovered something: A piece of ancient jewellery. It was enough to have him renting the land in 1699 so he could further his investigations. What he then discovered, though history records little of value was found inside at that time, was enough to start a secret society called the Hyperions.’

‘Hyperion was one of the Titans, was he not? The god of the sun?’ Willow asked, leaning in on her elbows, her dark eyes alight with interest.

Jarvidh hadn’t caught sight of her for weeks, even though she lived in a unit below his. It had come as a punch to the gut to see her that morning as they entered the Conference Room. That she was involved in this mission both pleased and worried him. Was she here to continue her ill-fated pursuit of him as her Key, or was she intent on sabotaging his attempt to get home?

Yet, for all his concerns about her motives, the very sight of her sent his pulse into over-drive and made his mouth dry up like a summer stream. Though he’d managed to drive her from his thoughts during the day as he explored his new surroundings, every night he dreamed of her, and every morning he awoke to find his sheets covered with the outcome of those dreams. It was worse than when he was a randy youth.

There was no way of getting around it, he wanted her desperately.

So it was better to stay away from her. Until the fascination dimmed and the lust subsided. And that wouldn’t happen if she was part of this project.
